Gibson Les Paul BFG
If you want an American made Gibson Les Paul that has a huge variety of tones, more bite than any other guitar, and is affordable - this is the one. What gives this guitar more tone and more bite is the unfinished body and the combination P-90 pickup in the neck position and a Burstbucker 3 pickup in the bridge.
An unfinished body resonates more freely than a hard-coat finished guitar.
A P-90 is huge single coil that is has more mid-range, more grit, and more bite than any humbucker or single coil pickup. The Burstbucker 3 is an original Gibson designed pickup that is hotter than other BurstBuckers and has mis-matched coils like the original Gibson PAF humbucker pickups. PAFs were originally hand-wound which resulted in inconsistencies in the windings of each coil. Because the coils are not matched, the pickups were not completely humbucking - some of the hum bleeds through - giving this pickup it's own personality with a slight gritty bite.
The Les Paul BFG also has a Kill switch - this lets you go completely silent when not playing (no annoying background noise while on-stage), and also allows you to make a killer sticatto on-off effect while playing.
Adding to the raw personality is an unsanded top, no binding, no pickup rings, no truss rod cover, no toggle switch rings, no fretboard position indicators (dots on the side only), with wooden knobs that have no numbers, "Distressed" stop bar, Tune-o-matic bridge, and Grover tuning keys. If you've been looking for a raw personality guitar with more tone and more bite, this is it.
